Fire in IOC office
An incident of fire was reported in the Indian Oil Corporation office in Sector 44 here tonight. According to fire brigade sources, there was no loss of life or property. The fire broke around 9.30 p.m. as a result of short-circuit.
Blood donation camp held
A blood donation camp was organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Phase-3BI, Mohali by the Sahibzada Social Welfare Society. Sixty-three people donated blood in the camp. The camp was inaugurated by the Director Health Services, Dr Puran Singh Jassi.
City Cong flays Jain’s statement
The Joint secretary of the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee Sandeep Singh and the president of the Chandigarh District Congress Committee (Urban) Dr O.P. Verma in a joint statement have strongly criticised the reported statement of city MP Satya Pal Jain that "85 per cent people of the country are Hindu and Hindus are secular". According to the press release the statement depicts the narrow communal mind of the BJP leaders.
GOMCO meet
The INDO-US CME-GOMCO International ’98 conference of doctors would be inaugurated on December 19 at the IMTECH auditorium. The conference would be inaugurated by Dr. Harry Sahota, a cardiologist and president of Patiala Medical College Alumuni Association (GOMCO) North America.
