Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Madhavendra Singh today said that the flight data recorders of the two IL-38 transport aircraft which collided mid-air off the Goa coast on October 1 have been sent to Russia for a detailed analysis.

Singh said more information about the accident would only be available after the report on the recorders was submitted. The two IL-38 aircraft, which participated in a flypast to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of the squadron, crashed near Dabolim airport, 35 km from Panaji. Seven Navy pilots and two labourers on the ground were killed and over 15 persons injured.
