I am aware of the fact that I am the first player of Indian origin to play for the West Indies as a fast bowler. But that’s not something I ever thought about. I bowled the way I liked bowling and did it quite well. Now that I am in the West Indies ODI side, it means I did the right thing.

Cricket is definitely my career. I love playing the game and I love playing for the West Indies. But I know that the team needs an all-rounder more than a bowler, because we don’t have good batsmen from number seven downwards. So I am trying to work on my batting so that I am able to contribute a few runs.

People have said that I am a very good ODI bowler. That’s primarily because I have always focussed on line and length and slower deliveries and yorkers — the kind of stuff you need in one-day cricket. But I would love to play Test cricket for the West Indies as well and am working towards that.
