The Delhi High Court has asked Goa Chief Electoral Officer B.S. Bhalla to appear before it on Friday when he would be awarded a sentence for contempt of court during his tenure as deputy secretary in the Delhi government. Justice Vikramjit Sen also found current Deputy Secretary Arun Mishra guilty of contempt in the same case and directed him to be present the same day.

The court passed the verdict while hearing a contempt petition which said the two had ‘‘willfully disobeyed’’ a division bench order in 1995. Bhalla was at the time deputy secretary and Mishra SDM.

The division bench had directed the authorities to allot a certain plot of land to one Ram Phal who later moved a contempt petition before the high court, saying the order had not been complied with.
