NEW DELHI, April 8: Fine knocks by Vikram Hastir (76) and Ishan Ganda (70) and useful contribution from Ashok Singh were of no avail as Indian Airlines lost their A-I division DDCA League match to Bright Club at the Palam A ground here today.

Electing to make the first use of the strip proved worthwhile as Indian Airlines powered by Hastir and Ganda made mincemeat of Bright bowling to put up 255 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 40 overs. Hastir’s knock contained 10 hits to the ropes while Ganda hoisted a six and hit eight boundaries. Somehow, their latter order failed to capitalise on the good foundation as Nischal Gaur captured three wickets, conceding 51 runs while Pawan Sharma took 2 for 35.

Chasing a stiff target, Bright kept the run chase within easy reach and made 260 for seven in 38.4 overs. Jasbir Singh (54), Sanjay Dalal (51) and Sanjay Sahni (33 not out) were the main contributors. Sanjay Singh claimed three wickets for 39.

In other matches, Winsom Club downed State Bank of India by 37 runs in another A-I division match at Kotla, Roop Nagar Gymkhana beat Bank of India by six wickets in a B division game at Kotla 2 and at Palam B ground, Malviya Club defeated Goswami Ganesh Dutt by three wicekts.
