MUMBAI, JAN 13: Some of the countries top amateurs will be seen in action at the Western India Amateur Golf Tournament which gets under way at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club from tomorrow.
Reigning National champion Harmeet Kahlon, citymate Amish Jaitha, defending champion Jaideep Patwardhan, Amit Luthra and Digvijay Singh are some of the prominent players to watch out for.
Most of the players who have played some practice rounds for the last two days have found the course in good form and are expecting a keen contest.
“The course is playing long,” said Kahlon after a practice round today. “The fairways have been watered well which is preventing the ball from rolling.” The greens, which are generally very fast have not been trimmed to the normal level and are playing a bit slow.
Patwardhan had defeated Kahlon in a play-off to wrest the title last year.
Karnatak hold Tatas
Karnatak held Tata Sports Club goalless in the second Goan Sports Association Veterans football tournament at the Cross maidan, today.
In another match of the same competition, Reserve Bank rallied to hold Goan Sports Association to a 1-1 draw.
Manuel Pereira gave Goans the lead and Calisto Pereira equalised for the bankmen.
