MUMBAI: Gold prices declined further on weak Hong Kong advices, but silver recovered following fresh rise in London prices. Standard gold opened weak at Rs 4710 and declined further to end at Rs 4700, showing a sharp fall of Rs 25 over the last close of Rs 4725. 22-carat gold was nominally quoted Rs 20 lower at Rs 4350. However, ten-tola gold bar (.999 purity) held steady at Rs 55,300 on local support. Ready silver (.999 fineness) started firm at Rs 8205 as it opened in London firmer at $ 5.28/5.31 per troy ounce.

Thereafter, prices continued to rise and closed at Rs 8215, showing a fresh rise of Rs 25. Similarly, tenderable silver hardened to Rs 8220 from Rs 8195 and raw silver (.916 fineness) firmed up by Rs 35 to Rs 8100.
