CHENNAI, OCT 12: In a major bid to rop in young Asian talents, Singapore-Mit Alliance (SMA), a global partnership of reputed international universities like Massachussets Institute of Technology and the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, has unveiled attractive offers for graduation courses in engineering.
Prof Chua Soo Jin, Deputy Director of SMA, and his collegues told a press conference here on Thursday that at least hundred students would be selected from Asian countries this year, adding that half of this would be from India.
The courses offered are professional masters (SM) degree and Research doctorate (Ph.D) in advanced materials for micro systems, high performance computation for engineered systems, innovations in manufacturing systems and technology, molecular engineering of Biological and chemical systems and computer science.
The selected students would get a $ 1,400 scholarship and an additional grant of 500 dollars for Ph.D students. A team from the SMA is currently in the country undertaking visits to leading Indian varsities.
According to the team members, the courses were selected for their relevance in promoting and supporting the growth of high tech industries in Singapore and the region as well as their global importance.
