NEW DELHI, JULY 23: Customs authorities have arrested a German national from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here for allegedly smuggling 1.860 kg of heroin worth over Rs 1.86 crore in the international market.

Richard Heinrich Rodriguez of Nuremnburg, arrested at the airport on Wednesday night while awaiting a flight to Amsterdam, was today produced in the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, who remanded him to judicial custody till August three.

The accused, who had arrived from Kathmandu by Royal Nepal Airlines and was bound for Amsterdam, had allegedly concealed the contraband in a briefcase and in his shoes.
