Arun Gawli, the self-proclaimed ‘reformed’ don of the Mumbai underworld, has declared assets of Rs 2 crore while filing his nomination for South Central Mumbai LS seat.

Gawli submitted a 40-page affidavit, which provides an extensive record of his criminal cases, none of which have resulted in conviction, and details of assets. Gawli, who is contesting under the banner of the Akhil Bhartiya Sena (ABS), has stated that, ‘‘No case is pending against me in any court.’’

Son of a mill worker and resident of Dagdi Chawl, Gawli has submitted details of various immoveable assets including those he jointly owns with his family. Properties at the chawl alone have been valued at Rs 38 lakh.

In addition, he has declared agricultural holdings at Pune worth Rs 3.25 lakh, others in his wife Asha’s name at Sangli valued at Rs 16.50 lakh, and some more in Pune in the names of his two sons and three daughters which are worth Rs 4.25 lakh.

Among moveable assets, Gawli has listed cash of Rs 7 lakh held by him and his wife, deposits of over Rs 23.26 lakh in FIs, investments in Kisan Vikas Patra (Rs 37.65 lakh) and units of UTI (Rs 6.06 lakh). Jewellery and gold ornaments have been valued at Rs 18 lakh.

Gawli does not have an Income Tax PAN and has never been assessed.
