BANGALORE, June 22: A conman, posing as a swamiji, duped a woman in the city of jewellery valued at about Rs 8000. This is the eighth time the conman has tricked Bangalore residents. The woman said the fake swami’ visited her house, and asked her to place her jewellery in a box in front on an idol, and worship the idol for a week to ward off evil spirits. He asked her to get some rice to cover the box, performed a pooja, and left. When the box was opened a week later, it was found to contain nothing but stones.
