A former ruling party in J-K, the Awami National Conference (ANC), has sought the Centre’s assurance for a dialogue with elected representatives for a ‘‘final settlement’’ on Kashmir.
The demand is a precondition for former CM G.M. Shah to participate in the coming Assembly polls. ‘‘Unless Delhi spells out (its stand) clearly, there is no question of ANC taking part in polls,’’ party leader Muzzaffar Shah said here.

‘‘It’s time we stopped pretending that Kashmir is not a problem. India needs to reach a final settlement with genuine representatives of Kashmiris,’’ Shah said.
