When Esha Deol sent out invites for a party she was throwing at popular South Mumbai nightclub Athena to celebrate an award, the actress wouldn’t have dreamt that the revelry would end in violence.
Debutant Zayed Khan, who stars opposite her in the yet to be released Chura Liya Hai Tumne, was hit on the head with a bottle after a brawl with three NRIs.
A spokesperson for Athena said Deol was celebrating her Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. While popping the cork of a champagne bottle, she accidentally spilt some on one of the accused. The men immediately launched into an argument. When Khan intervened, one of them reportedly smashed a champagne bottle on his head.
A bleeding Khan was rushed to the Breach Candy hospital for treatment.
