
PUNE, Sept 17: Dhanya Nair and Chaitali Anand saved the day for Symbiosis college, as they made a good come back to win the third and final rubber in doubles against Gauri Bhange and Gayatri Morgaonkar of Kataria school, thus helping their side to enter the semi-finals of U-17 section PDMGSC badminton tournament with a 2-1 verdict.
At the WIE Complex here today, being down 4-15 in the first game, after both sides were locked 1-1 in the first two rubber, the Symbiosis duo bounced back to win a close decisive final tie 15-11, 15-12.
Katariya took the early lead through Gauri Bhange, who blanked out Arya Doshi love and love. However, Symbiosis pulled one back with Dhnaya Nair winning in almost similar fashion against Katariya’s Bikul Purohit 11-2, 11-1.
Abhivan English school also joined with Symbiosis in the last four, defeating HHCP 2-0 in another quarter-final match.

Sudeep, Vijaya named captains
International Sudeep Wakchaure will lead the Pune’s men’s team while Vijaya Kanekeri has been named the captain of the women’s team for the forthcoming state handball championships to be held at Kolhapur.
The defending champions Pune District men, form a formidable side which includes national players Prashant Dhole, Sudam Shelke and Sharad Takawale apart from the skipper.
