MUMBAI, DEC 5: Trauma over his estranged marital relationship could have forced Garware scion Jaideep to commit suicide at his south Mumbai residence on Friday afternoon, say the police.
A senior police officer, requesting anonymity, told the Indian Express that the contents in the five-page suicide note hinted that Jaideep could not bear being separated from his wife Ramona. He has not held anybody responsible for his death, the officer added.
According to friends, the couple had separated two weeks ago, following divorce proceedings filed against Jaideep by his wife Ramona. The legal separation was to follow shortly. Sources revealed Jaideep had siphoned 20 ampules, containing 2 ml each of Calmpose, into a syringe before it was injected in his left forearm. His body was found with the needle still embedded in the arm.
This has given rise to suspicions as to whether some other person had administered the dose to Jaideep. Or whether he slipped into sleep while injecting himself.
Investigatorshave also found his viscera stuffed with other substances, raising doubts as to whether he had consumed some other poison.
Jaideep’s body has been sent to J J Hospital late in the evening. A post-mortem report and chemical analysis report revealing the actual time and cause of death is awaited.
Jaideep Garware, 34 was the elder son of noted industrialist Chandrakant Garware.
He committed suicide at his Warden Road residence last evening. Jaideep’s death came to light around 4 pm when his mother Anita and younger son Nihal rushed his ninth floor apartment at Somerset building, only to find him dead. She was alarmed because no one was answering his telephone.
Jaideep and his wife were married about five years ago and were childless.Incidentally, Ramona is the daughter of Rama and Mona Narang of the Ambassador Group of Hotels.
