MARGAO, DEC 27: Defending champions Salgaocar Sports Club, today, failed in their acid test and had to be content with a goalless draw against a spirited Dempo Sports Club in the Coca Cola National Football League match played at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda. Salgaocar, with this drawn match, took their tally to eight points with two wins and two draws, while Dempo have two points from an equal number of matches.
Salgaocar went into the attack right from the word go and dominated the proceedings right through but failed to convert their superiority into terms of a goal. Dempo’s formidable defence led by Iranian recruit Assau Aloh, Samir Naik, Stanley Colaco, Edwin Ferandes and Ajay Acharya had a torrid time in containing the aggressive Salgaocar forwards.
