Hit-and-run
Shankar Kumar Vaghela, a four-year-old resident of Krushna Kunj Society on Sama Road, died in a road mishap on Nizampura Road on Monday afternoon, the Fatehgunj police said. According to the police, when Shankar was crossing the road, a speeding Maruti car (GJ-6-K-5766) hit him. The boy died on the spot, the police said. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

Looted
Three armed miscreants, travelling in a car, snatched a bag containing bank keys from Dipakbhai Bhagubhai Desai, a head clerk working for the Ankoria extension counter of the Dena Bank, on Monday morning at Khanpur-Ankoria Road. According to the police, one of the three accused stepped out of the car, slapped Desai, snatched the bag and fired from his pistol in the air to scare him. A case has been registered and is being investigated.

Clothes stolen
One Milanbhai Ram Prasad Dhobi, a resident of Harani village, complained to the Karelibaug police on Monday that clothes worth Rs 700 were stolen from his truck, parked outside the Jalaram Apartment on Harni Road, on Sunday night. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

Traffic fines
The traffic police on Monday challaned 511 people for violating various traffic rules in different parts of the city and realised fine of Rs 29,335 from them.

Body recovered
Surat: The Rander police recovered the body of an unidentified person in the Adajan area of the city late on Sunday night. According to the police, the body was found near the Adajan Char Rasta and has been sent to the New Civil Hospital for further examinations. A case of accidental death under section 174 of the CrPC has been registered at the Rander police station.
