Dowry cases registered against four
The Mahidharpura police of the city have registered cases against four members of a family under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Prohibition of Dowry Act after a woman, married five months ago, lodged a complaint against them on Monday evening. The complainant told the Mahidharpura police that her husband and three other members of his family had been harassing her for the four months by demanding dowry. On Monday, she was forced to leave the house and lodge a complaint, the Mahidharpura police said, adding that the accused were being interrogation. Cases under sections 498 (a), 323, 504 and 114 of the IPC as well as section 4 of the Prohibition of Dowry Act have been registered.

Vehicle thefts
Three vehicles, two motorcycles and a moped, were reported stolen in separate incidents of vehicle thefts registered in the city police stations. Tulsi Patel, a resident of Shivshankar Parvati Society, in Varachha, told the police that his Hero Honda motorcycle (GJ 5 RR 9367) was stolen from the parking space of his house during the night hours. In another case registered at the Mahidharpura police station, a TVS Suzuki motorcycle (GJ 5 SS 8978), belonging to Nirmal Natwar, was stolen from opposite the Linear Bus stand, beside the railway station.

In a third case registered at the Mahidharpura police station, a Bajaj M-80 moped was stolen on Tuesday morning from opposite Meghani Tower on Cinema Road. Munir Bhesani told the police that he parked the vehicle and returned later to find it stolen. The police have lodged cases under IPC in the respective police stations.
