PU students rough up constable in Sector 11
Four students of Punjab University allegedly roughed up a police constable, Jagtar Singh, here yesterday in the market of Sector 11. While one of them, Jagteshwar Singh, has been arrested, three others, Manpreet Singh, Raj Kumar and Gogi are absconding. They allegedly assaulted him when the constable, who was on duty, objected to their creating nuisance under the influence of liquor.
Four held for drinking outside GCG-11
Four persons, Sanjiv Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Surinder Singh and Davinder Singh, have been arrested while they were allegedly drinking in a car parked right in front of sector 11 Government College for Girls. They have been held for drinking at a public place.
Pickpocket held
A resident of Sector 37, Surinder Pal, has been arrested while he was allegedly trying to pick the pocket of somebody in PGI. The stolen amount of Rs 165 was also recovered from him.
Four held with knives
Four persons have been arrested for allegedly possessing a kamanidar knife each from different places under Sector 11 police station, in a special drive conducted by the area police to nab suspicious elements. Those arrested are Sat Ram of Maloya Colony, Rajesh of Sector 24, Sukhdev of Zirakpur and Satnam of S.A.S. Nagar.
Youth’s body recovered
The police this afternoon recovered the body of Som Pal, who had slipped into the Sukhna Choe in Kishangarh village. He was a resident of Sector 24.
