JAIPUR, Nov 16: A man sacrificed his son to a deity and injured another son in the process, in a bid to find an elusive hidden treasure at Kotadi village in Baran district of Rajasthan, close to the Madhya Pradesh border, on Saturday morning, reports reaching here today said. The man attacked his wife when she tried to save her sons but after sacrificing his younger son tried to kill himself.

Bharat Kumar, was admitted to a government hospital with serious injuries along with his 13-years-old son, Jai Kishan. The body of the younger son, Digvijay, was handed over to his wife, Kailash Bai.

Police said here that a case had been registered against him under sections 307, 302 and 309 of the IPC. A knife, a box containing blood and blood-stained clothes had been seized from the house of Bharat Kumar.

Kailash Bai told the police that her husband used to beat her quite often. She said late on Friday night, she tried to prevent him from taking both boys outside the house. He first pushed her aside and as she tried to check him again, he strangulated her till she fell unconscious.

Taking both boys to a temple, Kumar tied them to a pillar, chopped off the head of the younger boy, Digvijay, collected his blood in a box and offered it to the deity. He stabbed his elder son too, but feeling remorseful stabbed himself. The passers-by, who noticed the ghastly scene, informed the police.
