November 28: Suburban services on the Central Railway (CR) were severely disrupted for the third consecutive day today following a rail fracture between Ambernath and Ulhasnagar station at about 11.50 am.

All Karjat-bound locals were halted at Kalyan junction and sent back to CST for nearly two hours after the incident, which took place near the kilometre stone 57/20 and 21.According to railway police control, the rail fracture took place on the down track, affecting services for over an hour.

Several Mumbai-bound passengers were stranded at almost all stations between Kalyan and Karjat. Announcements were also being made to inform passengers about the incident.

Running staff, on the other hand, claimed they had warned the administration about the poor tracks near Ambernath and Ulhasnagar. “The rail fracture took place barely 50 metres away from the site where a local had rammed into a truck last month,” a motorman said.
