RAJKOT, Aug 19: The court has issued notice to the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation on contempt application by former councillor Ramesh Katarmal, returnable by August 21.
The corporation has passed a resolution to supply water on alternative days instead of daily. Ramesh Katarmal, a former councillor challenged the decision through a Public Interest Litigation petition and assistant commissioner attended the court and assured that the resolution will not be implemented and water will be supplied daily as usual.
However, the corporation again on November 27, 1997 decided to supply water only on three days a week. On this the applicant’s advocate V H Kanaraa issued notice to the JMC that the implementation of the decision will be against the assurance given and may amount to contempt of court. On this, the corporation cancelled their decision.
But again after the cyclone, the corporation decided to implement water cut and even though the power supply was restored, the JMC continued the alternative day water supply.
Ramesh Katarmal drew the attention of the court through an application and court has issued a notice returnable by August 21.
