NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday hit out at the Congress and Left parties for raising the Ayodhya issue repeatedly to "gain political mileage" and warned their attempts to create a rift between the BJP and its allies will not succeed.
"We hope that the Congress, Left parties and pseudo-secularists would realise the fact that their efforts to create a divide between the BJP and its allies will not succeed inspite of their best efforts. It will not lead them anywhere and they should understand this," party spokesman Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.
He alleged that efforts by these parties to "incite communalism" has cost them heavily. The strength of these parties has weakened and as a result some partymen had even asked the leadership to rethink party’s ideology on secularism.
"This would not lead them anywhere as there is communal harmony all over the country and in the last 21 months there has been no communal violence. Even on December 6, barring minor incidents, it was by and large peaceful," he said.
Naidu said the Opposition was repeatedly raising the Ayodhya issue only to mislead the people and if they continue to do so, it would hurt them badly.
He said the Centre does not propose to do anything on the issue as the matter was in Court.
He reiterated that the party would abide by the national agenda for governance drawn up by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and "this will be our guiding philosophy".
