PUNE, Sept 3: Narendra B Sancheti, partner in Santron, manufacturers of liquid level indicators and pump controllers, has filed a complaint with the Pune District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, demanding Rs 7,650 as compensation for disconnection of his pager service for five days by Page Point Services, in spite of having made the annual subscription payment.

According to the complaint, Sancheti paid the company, a Motorola joint venture, Rs 6,422 on March 17, 1998. On July 3, he received a message on his pager saying his bill had not been paid. He called up the company and gave them all the details. But his pager was disconnected on March 16.

A letter to the company asking it to resume the service and pay compensation for the loss of business suffered was not accepted by the company. Sancheti has sought Rs 5,000 as compensation for defamation and mental harassment, Rs 2,500 for loss of business, Rs 100 as cost of letters, courier, fax and xerox charges and Rs 50 as pager subscription for five working days.
