In drought-hit north Karnataka, the cloud-seeding experiment Project Varuna is a partial success with rainfall upto 10 mm being registered everyday in the past four days at places where the experiment had been conducted.
Cloud-seeding was taken up in Hubli, Gadag, Koppal, Nargund and Navalgund. On Thursday, the experiment was done in Badami, Bagalkot, Ramdurga, Naragund, Yallapur and Saudatti. According to Lokesh, technical advisor at the Irrigation Department, cloud-seeding operation at Athani and Bijapur will be taken up in the next two days.
