CHANDIGARH, April 16: The Child Welfare Council of Punjab has decided to start a new project to take care of the material needs of children below 16 years, belonging to the most backward village of each district of the state.
According to a press release, the decision to this effect was taken today at the general body and executive committee meeting of the council, which met under its vice-president Rama Chhibber, wife of the Punjab Governor.
Uma Ratra, secretary of the council informed that the Central government had agreed to fund a novel project to rehabilitate the street children in the districts of Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana.
Vice-president of the council appreciated the council for extending financial help to a girl child of Bathinda district who wrote with her foot as her arms were affected by polio.
