New delhi, Dec 29: Border security force (BSF) opened their campaign with a 3-0 win over Western Railway while JCT (Phagwara) kept their hopes alive routing Food Corporation of India (FCI) 6-3 in the quarter-final league of the All-India Shastri Hockey tournament today.

In another match of the day, Air-India Academy downed Punjab Sind Bank Academy 4-3.

Gurmeet Singh put BSF ahead in the 20th minute and nine minutes later Amrit Lakra made it 2-0. Thirteen minutes after the breather Habil Topno completed the tally JCT, who lost to Western Railway yesterday, gave good display against FCI and led 4-0 at lemon break. Mewa Singh gave JCT the lead in the 4th minute and Charanjit increased the tally in the 20th minute. A minute later Phool Chand made it 3-0 and Harpal Singh scored the fourth goal in the 24th minute.

Four minutes after the interval JCT further consolidated the lead when Mewa Singh scored his second goal. Dilbag Singh completed the tally for JCT in the 47th minute. FCI reduced the margin by scoring three quick goals in seven minutes starting with AS Negi converting a penalty corner in the 52nd minute. Manjinder Singh converted another penalty corner a minute later and in the 59th minute Navbir scored the third goal.

In pool-I, Air-India Academy managed to put it across Punjab & Sind Bank Academy 4-3 after leading 4-1 at half-time. Brejnev Singh (2), Mohd Fahad, Vinay Gethe (one each) scored for Air-India. Sandeep Singh, Harvinder, Gurmail Singh scored Sind.
