During the investigation of the murder of a 20-year-old woman, the police have arrested the deceased’s brother-in-law after he confessed before the police that he killed the woman, as she abused him a lot over the issue of running the family business.
However, the police suspect that there is more to the case and are investigating if the accused had used black magic to kill the woman. They are also probing the involvement of other family members in the crime.
The accused was, on Sunday, sent to a six-day police remand by a local court.
Meena Chaurasiya, a resident of Krushna Kunj Society near Khari-cut canal in Vastral, was found dead in mysterious circumstances in her house on November 12. During interrogation, Meena’s brother-in-law, Vishnu Chaurasiya, confessed before the police that he had killed her because of the humiliation he was subjected to by her. According to Inspector S R Gohil, Vishnu has confessed that he strangled Meena to death with her saree.
However, Gohil said that the primary postmortem note does not mention suffocation as the cause of the death. “So, it is possible that the woman was killed by some other means,” Gohil said.
“We have found a clue that suggests that Vishnu had received help from a sorcerer to eliminate Meena and so we are trying to find out the involvement of others in the crime,” said Gohil.
He further said the evidence hints that two persons were present in the house when Meena was killed, whereas Vishnu said that he was alone in executing the murder.
“So, we are investigating if any other person was with Vishnu at the time of crime,” said Gohil.
He said they have also called Meena’s husband, Ghanshyam, for interrogation in the case on Sunday.
