Melbourne, January 19: India’s Mahesh Bhupathi, pairing with Ai Sugiyama of Japan, entered the second round of the mixed doubles in the Australian Open tennis tournament, beating David Riki (Czech Republic) and Karina Habsudova (Slovakia) in straight sets in a first round match today.
After Bhupathi and Sugiyama won the first set 7-5, the pair of Riki and Habsudova took the second set to the tie breaker. However, Bhupathi and his partner managed to win the tie breaker 11-9, thus clinching the set and match 7-5, 7-6.
