Furious over his leave application being rejected, a rifleman of the 44 Assam Rifles battalion vent his ire on four colleagues by shooting them dead in Chandel district of Manipur, officials said in Imphal on Tuesday. Rifleman Sashi Kumar shot Havildar Ram Kumar Nepali, rifleman Keshori Lal (both from Orissa), Subedar M B Chetri (West Bengal) and rifleman Chandra Singh (Uttaranchal) using his service rifle. Another rifleman, Parbat Kumar Pankaj, was injured, the officials said. Police have arrested Kumar who is now in Chandel police station. The bodies have been sent for post mortem.
