Nafitullah, brother of Zaheera, a key witness in the Best Bakery case, is being searched for recording his statement after he alleged that BJP MLA Madhu Srivastava and four others had threatened the family of dire consequences, police said here today.
Nafitullah had alleged that 10 days before the trial was to commence, he was taken to Congress corporator Chandrakant Srivastava’s premises by another witness Rehamtullah where the BJP MLA asked him and his family to refrain from testifying in the court, or else face dire consequences. On the basis of the statement, police registered a case against Madhu Srivastava, Chandrakant Srivastav, Rehamtullah, Lal Mohammed and an unidentified person.
Police said it was necessary to record Nafitullah’s statement for investigations. They were trying to locate him in Mumbai, UP and Bihar where some employees of Best Bakery and family members of Zaheera Shaikh have been staying.
