CHANDIGARH, Dec 2: An Army recruitment rally for candidates from Haryana which began in Ambala today under the aegis of Ambala Recruiting Zone will continue till December 22, an Army spokesman said.

Apart from scrutinising their documents during the rally, candidates will be tested for physical proficiency and will also be medically examined. Those who qualify in these preliminary tests will be called for a written common entrance test, scheduled to be held on December 27.

The result of these tests will be announced in mid-January and based on the merit list, it will be despatched to the candidates’ respective centre by the end of January.

In accordance with the new recruitment norms, two independent recruiting teams nominated by the Deputy Director General, Recruiting, Ambala Zone have been detailed for the task. They are being assisted by members deputed by Station Headquarters from different military units to ensure transparency and impartiality in the system.

Recruitment for the ranks is done on a quarterly basis and for the next quarter which commences in January 1999, recruiting teams will visit non-military stations, for which the schedule and modalities will be framed later this month.
