A youth belonging to the Adivasi community was killed by Army jawans in Sivasagar district in Upper Assam on Monday. Official sources said jawans of the 316 Field Regiment tried to stop three youths coming on a motorcycle at around 2 am on Monday, and fired on them when they refused to stop. The incident occurred at Disangpani-Banamali Tiniali under Kakatibari police station in Sonari sub-division. The deceased, who was later identified as one Sadananda Tantabai, was employed as a sardar in the Banamali tea estate, and he was the son of senior trade union leader Astami Tantabai.
