MUMBAI, OCT 14: Pratibandh, a street play promoting AIDS awareness, will be performed in different cities from October 15, including Mumbai, Ahemdabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Simla and Jammu. Sponsored by IBP Co Ltd and produced by street theatre group Naujawan-E-Hind and Kankabati, the play was earlier performed in six metros.

Writer of the play S Ramachandran today informed at a press meet that the second leg of the Bharat Parikrama will be accompanied by a doctor from every city who will counsel AIDS patients. In the earlier 28 performances of the play, around 1,000 AIDS patients came forward seeking guidance. These patients are given medical advice and treatment by the doctors and organisations involved. Ramchandran said the play induces people to ask questions regarding AIDS and removes misconceptions about the disease.

Naujawan-E-Hind and Kankabati have also sought the support of celebrities from the film and cricket world to popularise their play. Producer-director Mahesh Bhatt, who waspresent at the press meet, said it was a privelege to be associated with the country-wide tour of the street theatre group. Test cricketer Raju Kulkarni has also lent his support to the project.
