TUTICORIN, May 26: The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) should be soon reviewed in the light of the Act getting violated quite often, said L K Advani, BJP president, here on Monday.

He told press persons that the existing Act lacked teeth and the same was exposed by the Home Consultative Committee when the matter came up for a debate a few years ago. Advani, who was a member of the Committee, had called for modifying the Act as Foreign Exchange Prohibition Act.

When the Committee had called for details of expenditure of foreign contributions, the Government had expressed its inability to provide them as it had failed to monitor the system. The Committee had then recommended banning foreign contributions. Advani observed that the funds which flowed to India for carrying out relief works during natural calamities were being diverted for anti-national activities.
