NEW DELHI, OCT 3: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has handled a total of 3.7 crore passengers including 2.4 crore of domestic and 1.3 crore of international during 1998-99, an overall growth of mere 1.36 per cent over the previous year.

On the cargo side, the AAI cargo handling witnessed a one per cent dip to 6.99 lakh tonnes in 1998-99 against 7.06 lakh tonnes a year earlier. However, the aircraft movement at the airports managed by AAI increased by 9.56 per cent to 4.24 lakh movements from 3.87 lakh movements for the period under review. The AAI manages five international, 87 domestic airports and 28 civil enclaves.
