In a shocking incident, a medical camp conducted in a school in Madurai has revealed that seven students have tested HIV-positive. The students are all in the age group of 14 to 18.
According to sources, the reports have created panic among the academic community and discreet inquiries have already begun. It is learnt that the startling fact has not been disclosed either to the victims or to their parents. However, the school management has been briefed about the information.
Sources said a professional college near Madurai too had a similar complaint. At least, 16 students of the college tested HIV-positive during a special screening camp.
