In a world where celebrity homes often look like five-star resorts, Tejasswi Prakash’s Mumbai apartment is refreshingly real. “This is the house that I’ve been living in for the last 25 years,” she says with a smile, opening the door to a place that’s not your usual glam-pad.
“I know it’s not the kind of house you’re used to, not really fancy,” she tells the Brut India host, laughing, “but it’s got four walls!” That humble charm extends to every corner of her space, from the soft teddy bears lining her living room to the basic-but-beloved kitchen where she’s recently learned to make chai.
Step out onto her small balcony and you’ll hear the sounds of kids playing cricket nearby. “They’re used to me,” Tejasswi says. “I’ve lived here for 25 years.” The familiarity of her surroundings, the neighbours, and the chaos reflects a kind of rootedness that fame hasn’t shaken.
If anything, her home feels like a reflection of who she is: unfiltered, down-to-earth, and a little bit chaotic in the best way possible. “Size doesn’t matter,” she says while showing her tiny Swiss souvenir clock. “It’s all about personality.”
And when asked about her childhood dreams, it turns out acting wasn’t even the plan. “I was very sure I wanted to travel, maybe become an air hostess,” she recalls. But one beauty pageant and a spontaneous audition later, she found herself landing a lead role in a TV show, on her first try. “They said, ‘You’ll get 8,000 bucks per day,’ and I said, ‘Okay!’”
In a time where perfection is curated and homes are dressed like sets, Tejasswi keeps it honest. Whether she’s sipping chai on her balcony or roasting the host for not knowing what “rizz” means, she’s entirely herself, and that authenticity makes her home and her story more relatable than ever.
“Come over anytime,” she tells the interviewer at the end. “If you’re lonely, bitter, just, like, whatever, please come over.”
