Karwa Chauth 2025 Date: Karwa Chauth is an auspicious Hindu festival observed in North India. It is a celebration of the love between a husband and wife, and celebrates the concept and sanctity of marriage.

Karwa Chauth is celebrated on the fourth day of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of the Kartik month, which is after Navratri in the Hindu calendar.

It is also known as Karak Chaturthi, with ‘Karwa’ or ‘Karak’ referring to the clay pot used to produce a water gift to the moon called ‘Argha’.

On the day, the wife fasts without food and water for the entire day in hopes of blessing her husband with a long and healthy life, and breaks it after seeing and offering to the moon.

“The fasting of Karwa Chauth is strict and observed without taking any food or even a drop of water after sunrise till the sighting of the moon in the night,” Drik Panchang states.

Karwa Chauth 2025: Date and Timings

Karwa Chauth falls on the same day as Sankashti Chaturthi, a fasting day honouring Lord Ganesha, and is marked during the Hindu month of Kartik during Krishna Paksha Chaturthi.

This year, it will fall on Friday, October 10, 2025, with the auspicious Karwa Chauth Puja Muhurta being observed from 05:58 PM to 07:11 PM, with the fasting period starting early at 06:08 AM and continuing until 08:36 PM, according to drikpanchang.com.

The moonrise on Krishna Dashami, which marks the conclusion of the Karwa Chauth fast, is expected at 08:36 PM.
