It has been four years since Katrina Kaif hard launched her relationship with Vicky Kaushal, straight up sharing wedding pictures on Instagram in 2021. That the couple met “properly” at Zoya Akhtar’s house is common knowledge—thanks to Koffee With Karan—but the story of their very first encounter remained a mystery until now.

How did it all begin?

Kaushal recently revealed that their first official meeting was at the 2019 Screen Awards. Speaking to Pinkvilla, he said, “So I was hosting, and I think this was the first time I ever met and interacted with her. On stage, of course, everything is scripted, and we’re guided through earpieces. But behind the stage, it was the first time we were introduced formally. Who knew!”

Both Kaushal and Kaif appeared in an interview for The Film Companion, hosted by Anupama Chopra. Years later, in 2024, he thanked Chopra in another interview for playing a key role in their relationship by bringing them together.

A year later, the duo attended a Holi party hosted by Isha Ambani, along with Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. Soon after, fans noticed a telling clue—when Kaif posted a picture of herself resting on someone’s chest, dressed in a yellow T-shirt, social media sleuths quickly found an old image of Kaushal in the same-coloured T-shirt. The Internet was convinced.

Rumours of their romance picked up when both stars posted photos from Alibaug, from the same location, but on their individual Instagram feeds. Though they kept their relationship under wraps, eagle-eyed fans pieced the clues together.

Despite their best efforts to keep things private, news of their Rajasthan wedding leaked months before the ceremony. Paparazzi tracked their every move until the couple finally tied the knot in December 2021 at Six Senses Fort Barwara. Since then, the couple has continued to keep their relationship relatively low-key, but their chemistry and rare social media posts always make headlines.
