Wedding season is upon us, kickstarted by Parineeti Chopra’s wedding at Udaipur. The actor married politician Raghav Chadha in an ivory-toned lehenga custom designed by Manish Malhotra but it was the way she had personalised her dupatta veil that caught our eye.
She wore a dupatta as a veil, which had a long train, and had her husband Raghav’s name embroidered onto it. Not only this, Parineeti went a step further and added her nani’s challa or keychain to her lehenga as well.
“I missed my nani on my special day but had a piece of her on me,” the actor revealed in an Instagram story. Parineeti wanted to pay a heartfelt tribute to her nani, who used to wear the same challa in her saree with the keys, a symbol of being the lady of the house.
Here are some ways you can personalise your looks by taking inspiration from Bollywood celebrities.
Bollywood has paved the way for ditching traditional reds, maroons and browns at your wedding. If that is indeed your style, you can go for them as well like Priyanka Chopra’s monotone red lehenga from Sabyasachi.
Though pastels are being too overdone at weddings due to Bollywood, there is a whole smorgasbord of other options you can look to. You can pick a pink lehenga like Anushka Sharma or lavender lehenga like Anushka Ranjan.
Customised kaleeras are all the rage these days. Parineeti wore many charms on her kaleera, which depicted her relationship with Raghav and their journey. Kiara Advani and Alia Bhatt too wore personalised kaleeras.
Alia Bhatt stole everyone’s hearts when she decided to go for an extremely minimal look for her wedding. The actor defied rules and opted for a barely-there makeup look. Her tresses flowed down her back in soft waves and she wore a simple red bindi with mascaraed lashes and Pillowtalk from Charlotte Tilbury on her lips.
You can take a page from Parineeti’s book and embroider your husband’s name on your veil. Deepika Padukone also wore a Sabyasachi lehenga for her Sindhi Punjabi wedding and her bridal dupatta was customised with the words ‘Sada Saubhagyawati Bhava’ on its borders.
