Sequins can be tough to crack. However, we have had several occasions when Bollywood celebrities have effortlessly nailed the sequinned look — be it a pantsuit or a bodycon dress. But there have been some major disappointments too.
Recently, Bhumi Pednekar, who is busy promoting her upcoming film, Pati Patni Aur Woh, was seen in a sequin top that we just could not wrap our head around. The bralette with purple and black sequin work grabbed eyeballs, but only for being too gaudy.
The ruffle detailing around the hem of the top, which was paired with black jeans, was the major reason that put us off.
Previously, Taapsee Pannu attended the success bash for her latest release, Saand Ki Aankh. The actor who usually impresses with her fashion choices, disappointed us sorely in her ensemble. Sequins have been big for a while now and it was no surprise that the actor went for it, but her multi-hued one-sleeved crop top just did not work. There were far too many colours on the top and the result was jarring. The look was completed with a choker and black pants.
Malaika Arora, who often nails every look she steps out in, also got the sequin game wrong in an off-shoulder sequinned dress from Sarah Fahmy. Letting the outfit do all the talking, she opted for emerald cut green and blush pink round earrings and round cut ‘Zirconia from Swarovski’ rings from Diosa by Darshan Dave.
The upper half was enough to create the shine she wanted, but what came next was really avoidable. The slit lining of the skirt was a mix of shimmers and pom-pom detailing. We felt the look had too much going around it.
