Neelam Kaur Gill, the first-ever Punjabi model to walk for the legendary Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, graced the ramp this year for the second time in a row. A British fashion model and activist of Punjabi origin, Gill made her debut last year in an icy blue ensemble paired with holographic wings. She has previously worked with major fashion brands such as Burberry and Abercrombie & Fitch, and has appeared in notable fashion magazines.
Taking to Instagram, the model shared her excitement for this big achievement, expressing gratitude to the desi community for showering her with love and appreciation.
“Punjabi princess for @victoriassecret 💖🪽!!!!!! AHHHH.. I’m still floating on cloud 9!! thank you to my Desi community for all the love 🇮🇳 I’m so proud of where I’m from & that will never change! THANK YOU @adamselman for making this brown girl feel so seen, loved, confident and empowered 🥹🤎,” she wrote on social media.
For her walk, Gill slipped into a pink-and-silver ombre two-piece lingerie set, with a gauzy skirt and top adding sparkle to her look. A sleek blowout with curled ends and curtain bangs framed her face, while subtle dewy makeup with pink accents — a pop of coral blush, sharp sculpted cheekbones and nude lips completed her runway glam.
The iconic Victoria’s Secret fashion show turns one of America’s most popular lingerie brands into a celebration of fashion and pageantry, blending art, fashion and beauty in one frame. This year, Jasmin Tookes opened the show, flaunting a shimmery golden ensemble and caressing her third-trimester baby bump. The moment was a nod to the power of womanhood across phases of life.
From Adriana Lima to Madison Beer, Lily Aldridge to Candice Swanepoel, angels set the runway on fire with their killer moves. Veterans like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Barbara Palvin and Ashley Graham stole the audience’s hearts with their signature walks and stunning ensembles. Quite a few names made it on the debut list, with Emily Ratajkowski, Precious Lee, Barbie Ferreira, Daiane Sodre, Yumi Nuis, Amelia Gray, and Iris Law becoming Victoria’s Secret ‘Angels’ this year. Besides professional models, athletes like WNBA star Angel Reese and Olympic gymnast Suni Lee were the first to ever walk the show.
