Other than praying and fasting for the safety and long life of husbands and fiances, Karwa Chauth also serves as one of those days where women recreate their bridal look, and if not, at least dress up in vibrant ethnic wear. Even though this may sound fun, for some it can get really difficult to stand out in the crowd.

To make your life easier, we have curated a few looks of Bollywood celebrities for inspiration. Right from Alia Bhatt’s bright chartreuse lehenga to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s gold embellished sari, Katrina Kaif’s beautiful take on red lehengas to Shilpa Shetty’s unusual ways of draping saris, here’s a compilation of some of the best ethnic outfits sported by the fashionistas.

Lehengas

Sonam Kapoor stepped out in a bright blue Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla lehenga set that had an old-school charm to it. Stylist Rhea Kapoor accentuated the actor’s look by accessorising it with a pair of statement earrings from Gehna Jewels.

Make-up tip: Go for bold smokey eyes and nude lips.

Malaika Arora opted for a muted coloured lehenga that was teamed with a semi-sheer dupatta draped in an unusual manner. However, it was her oversized, statement neckpiece that was the highlight of her look.

Make-up: Too much make-up will spoil the look. Keep it simple.

Katrina Kaif donned a red lehenga while attending an event and we can’t get over how beautiful she looked. From the house of Anamika Khanna, the lehenga had threadwork embroidery that muted down the flamboyancy of the outfit. We love how stylist Tanya Ghavri paired it with a pearl necklace that nested elegantly against the actor’s neck.

On another occasion, Kaif looked ethereal in a red and beige lehenga from Manish Malhotra, teamed with a red semi-sheer dupatta. Keeping her accessories and make-up minimal, she went for a diamond and ruby choker and soft wavy hairdo.

Make-up: Keep your hair open and make-up neutral.

When it comes to experimenting with a sari, nobody does it better than Shilpa Shetty Kundra. The actor pulled off an interesting look in a Shantanu and Nikhil creation that included a magenta ruffle sari teamed with an off-shoulder magenta and gold blouse. Gold earrings from Flowerchild, tousled hair styled by Sheetal Khan and make-up by Ajay Shelar rounded out the look.
