Fashion designer Anand Bhushan on balancing work and home

The selfie project: A feature on the spaces and objects that define our work and home life through the selfie.

At home
The chance to get out of the city is always a priority, a must-do on my list. A few months ago, my designer friend Rimzim Dadu and I decided to go on a food, fashion and fresco discovery trip. I was inspired after reading Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel, Eat Pray Love. Our love for these three things took us to some amazing adventures to Italy. Dreaming about sitting at the L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Naples, and channelising our inner Julia Roberts while eating pizza was a dream come true.

At work
I work out of a studio in suburban Delhi. Quietly tucked away from the heavy noise of factories, my studio is a green, smoke-free and animal-friendly space. In fact, I always encourage my clients to bring their pets along when they come for an appointment. There’s always an animal treat at my studio.

We are a small army of designers working peacefully in a space that has been done up in shades of grey, green and white. Big pin boards hang current and archive collections swatches and designs. The energy during fashion week is at its peak and we always have dogs and cats coming in and out acting as stress busters.
