Saudi Arabia has long been synonymous with luxury and wealth. Now, the country has set a new world record with a ₹9.65 crore dress made from 24 carat gold, redefining opulence on the global fashion map. Labelled as the “Dubai Dress,” this masterpiece has been created by Al Romaizan, a leading gold and jewellery brand in Saudi.

The dress weighs more than 10 kilograms (about 22 pounds), making it the heaviest gold dress in the world. Decorated with colourful precious stones, the outfit is a visual feat of luxury. The ensemble comes with a full set of accessories — a golden crown, earrings, a necklace, and a waist ornament called “Hiyar.” Interestingly, the necklace alone weighs almost 9 kilograms.

The design of the Dubai Dress draws inspiration from traditional Emirati culture, with its patterns and carvings revealing aspects of the UAE’s history and heritage. The gold bracelet that extends across the arm and the elaborate crown show the high level of craftsmanship that went into making this unique piece.

The Dubai Dress was unveiled at the 56th Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show in Sharjah, the largest jewellery event in the region, where it was officially recognised by Guinness World Records. The show features over 500 local and international exhibitors, with about 1,800 designers and artisans from around the world.

“This work reflects the UAE’s ambition to achieve global leadership and highlights Dubai’s position as the premier destination for gold and jewellery enthusiasts, while embodying the signature and unique creativity of Emirati craftsmen,” said Mohsen Al Dhaibani, the Deputy Manager of Al Romaizan Gold, at Expo Sharjah during the exhibition.

He further proclaimed that recording the dress is a message to the world, confirming that the UAE is capable of combining authenticity with innovation and cementing its presence at the forefront of the gold and jewellery industry.

Besides the star dress, the jewellery show featured many other impressive displays, including a gold-plated bicycle valued at around AED 1.5 million (Rs. 3.4 Crore). The event showcases the skill, innovation, and dedication of goldsmiths and designers who continue to push the boundaries of luxury and art.
