As the festive season knocks on our doors with Diwali and Dhanteras approaching, our minds naturally wander towards the annual tradition of shopping for new attire. In the hustle and bustle of stores, if you’re feeling bewildered about what to pick and what’s en vogue, fret not. Recently, Tara Sutaria treated us to a masterclass in the art of nailing festive fashion with her dazzling appearances during the promotions of her latest movie, Apurva.

On the first day of promotions, Tara exuded the essence of a Bollywood blockbuster as she graced the scene in a resplendent handwoven red silk sari adorned with a delicate corset blouse, infusing a touch of contemporary style. Meticulously crafted using the intricate Kadhwa technique, each motif on this sari was painstakingly woven in a captivating Jangla pattern. To complement the look, she adorned herself with an array of golden bangles, a striking statement necklace, earrings, and a maang tikka. Her elegant top knot and glamorous makeup further elevated her appearance.

Bianca Arora, a fashion influencer, suggests that to replicate this look, you could raid your mom’s or grandma’s closet for classic Benarasi or Kanjeevaram silk saris. “You can revamp a timeless piece or embrace its vintage charm as-is.”

Next, Tara donned a draped lace skirt paired with a sculpted corset, both designed by Tarun Tahiliani. She added a handcrafted long cape jacket to complete the ensemble, drawing inspiration from the opulence of Egyptian architecture and artistry.

Mehr Panchal, a beauty and fashion influencer, advises that to emulate this look, you can infuse some excitement by blending traditional and modern styles. “Pair a trendy crop top or a stylish blouse with comfortable palazzos, chic shararas, or sleek cigarette pants. Throw on a flowing floor-length flared coat to exude an air of casual elegance, and you’ll undoubtedly turn heads.”

Tara also graced the stage in a resplendent Anarkali adorned with gold kaanch ka kaam and Salma accents by designer Punit Balana.

Khushi Rathod, a content creator, suggests that to capture the breezy vibe, you can opt for a gota patti flared kurta paired with comfy palazzos. Meanwhile, Hitika Sachdev, a fashion content creator, recommends elevating any simple look with statement jhumkas or eye-catching bangles.

Lastly, Tara transformed into a yesteryear heroine in a stunning gold sari adorned with intricate embroidered borders. Her gold jewellery, hair adorned with roses, and her bold red lips, radiant highlighter, mascara-laden eyes, and bronzed cheeks added to her magnetic charm.

Arora advises that to achieve this look, you can select a plain sari and unleash your DIY creativity with embellishments — whether it’s embroidery, sequins, or a splash of fabric paint. “The festive season calls for that extra touch of sparkle.”

Now, armed with these style tips, you’re all set to conquer the festive season just like Tara Sutaria. So, which look will you be trying out?
