Met Monday is finally here, and we cannot keep calm. This year, Bollywood’s “greatest superstar” — none other than Shah Rukh Khan — is making his debut in collaboration with ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Along with the Jawan actor, mom-to-be Kiara Advani, Diljit Dosanjh, Priyanka Chopra, Isha Ambani, and Mona Patel are set to represent the country on the global platform.
Ahead of the big night, Dosanjh took to Instagram to share a fun video of unwrapping the Met Gala invite and taking us through it. “MET GALA Tomorrow 😈 Daso Fer Ki Paiye Kal Nu 😎 Halaa Laa Laa Karauni An 😁 #metgala,” he captioned his post, relaying the content inside in fluent Punjabi.
“Aaj ke baad mera koi rishtedaar biyaah da card na bheje…toh main yu jaake card bhej dena unhe. Aa card aa gaya hai na ji, isika main wait kariya si (Henceforth even if a relative of mine doesn’t send me a wedding invitation card, I wouldn’t mind because I have with me an invite from the Met Gala),” he is heard saying in the video.
Taking the card out of a brown envelope with his name on it, Dosanjh reads: “The theme is Dandyism, and there’s an important note, which says: ‘The use of the cellphone and recording devices is prohibited in the evening’.”
“There goes our plans to make reels all night,” he quipped with charm and wit. He then lists ASAP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Lebron James, and Anna Wintour as the honourable chairs of the night. “Another important point to note: the event is slated to begin on Monday, 5th May at 5.30 pm,” he added at the end of the video.

Every year, on the first Monday of May, the world comes together to celebrate art, history and couture as celebrities ascend the iconic steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Met Gala. The ‘gala’ is an annual fundraising event for the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in the Upper East Side of New York City, which marks the opening of the Institute’s spring fashion exhibition.
In October 2024, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” to be on display from May 10 to October 26, 2025. In line with the theme, this year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” is a nod to Dandyism – a stereotype-bending menswear style and code of conduct prevalent in Black culture during the 18th and 19th centuries, defined by tailored outfits and elegant and refined silhouettes.
