Everyone has a tattoo story, and Aditya Roy Kapur is no different. Talking to The Nod Mag, the Ludo actor recalled his story of almost getting inked as a teen. “I was 17, or 18, and I wanted to get a tattoo. I went with my friend to a tattoo artist, and she was getting one. I wanted a tattoo of Jim Morrison on my back. But no ordinary tattoo. You know that famous one of him with both arms out, he’s without a shirt on and all that? I was obsessed with The Doors,” the actor shared.
Kapur went on, adding that he wanted a big tattoo, basically to cover his whole back with Jim Morrison. “And then that guy told me he just kicked me out of his house. He just said, ‘Go home and think about it. And if, in a few months, you still want it, come back. And I never went back. Thank you, tattoo man,” he told the publication.
Getting inked is a pretty serious commitment. While not completely permanent, tattoos can leave a lasting mark and take years to fade. No wonder experts encourage thinking the decision through before getting a tattoo.
For some, the decision comes from a mix of emotional intensity, impulsivity, and the thrill of doing something bold and passionate, without considering long-term consequences. For others, it’s an expression of deep emotional connection—a way to immortalise love, believing it symbolises permanence.
If you find yourself getting the itch to get inked but fear is stopping you, know that the removal process isn’t a complete nightmare.
“Before deciding to remove a tattoo, one needs to understand that it may need multiple sessions as it’s not an easy process. Sometimes it even becomes challenging to completely erase the tattoo, especially if it has deep ink or bright colours,” Dr Shareefa Chause, Dermatologist, Dr Shareefa Skin Care Clinic, Mumbai, told indianexpress.com.
When going for tattoo removal, she recommended choosing a certified professional to avoid complications such as burns, scars, or infections. It becomes crucial to take precautions as instructed by the expert.
“Taking proper after-care, keeping the treated area clean, and also avoiding sun exposure to significantly prevent your skin from getting burnt or to prevent post-procedure pigmentation are key facets to keep in mind,” said Dr Chause.
“Some people expect the instant removal of their tattoo, but in reality, it may take even a few weeks or months for the tattoo to fade away. If you are going with a laser removal procedure, ensure your skin type is suitable. Ditch DIY tattoo removal creams or home remedies you see online, as they do more harm than good. They can easily cause irritation, infection or even scarring,” she explained.
Common mistakes include opting for cheap or unverified treatments, picking at the treated area, and, most importantly, not being patient enough to wait for the final results. Tattoo removal can be painful, just as getting a tattoo is. So using a numbing cream or trying cooling methods can be helpful, she added.
