In a playful and health-forward kitchen segment, Alaya F teamed up with her mum, Pooja Bedi to whip up a breakfast that’s as good for the soul as it is for the body, high-protein blueberry pancakes with a homemade compote.

“Aaj hum protein pancakes banaane waale hain, because woh bahut healthy hote hain,” Alaya told Farah Khan and Dilip with enthusiasm. Using oats flour and a scoop of protein powder as the base, she set out to make a breakfast packed with goodness. “Actually, humein bahut protein intake milega ismein se,” she explained.

The batter was simple but smart:

Farah was surprised to hear the precise measurements used by Alaya, instead of the usual ‘swaad anusaar’ thing everyone does. “¼th teaspoon…my god! This is the first time I’m hearing such precise measurements,” she exclaimed.

With gentle nudging from Pooja and a lot of spontaneous laughter, the mother-daughter duo navigated their way through the recipe. ‘This is the prettiest kitchen we’ve come to,’ Farah told Alaya, for whom this would be a great compliment as it is the actor’s ‘first independent home in Bombay’, she revealed.

Pooja got started on the blueberry compote. “Compote ka matlab jaise ki jam banta hai… lekin jams mein bahut saari shakkar jaati hai,” she explained. Their version used fresh blueberries, a touch of jaggery, and time over low heat to create a thick, naturally sweet sauce. After their compote burnt a litte, Farah joked, “Aap log apna compote na jalae, low flame pe karein.”

The end result? Golden, fluffy pancakes served with a beautiful blueberry topping and a drizzle of date syrup. “Yeh khaake dekho – it’s high protein, super healthy!” Alaya beamed. And it truly looked like a labour of love, complete with slightly burnt compote, a lot of improvisation, and giggles over the food later.

Alaya’s version of breakfast proves that eating well doesn’t have to mean eating boring. It’s about balance, joy, and the people you share it with, and if there’s a little jaggery and butter along the way, all the better.
